Scouting Report

6/06/23

Chase Fernandez, Stewarts Creek (TN), 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Athletic pitcher that understands how to use his body matching his lowerhalf effectively up with his upper half. Really understands how to create seperation with his shoulder and hip and drive down the mound. Starts from left foot offset to a natural leg lift with tension from his plant toe present to fully open up upon delivery. Uses really good glove side hand turnover upon rotation and creates extended release. Has present feel for breaking ball but can lag behind at times as his delivery can be quick. Really quick arm with loose actions
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Strong lower half
Delivery: He is able to work down in the zone early with his fastball with a quiet explosive delivery. Out of the stretch the right works knee to knee and down hill quick. He struggles to stay on top of his slider. As he gets older he should be able to figure that out and become a very dangerous pitcher.
Arm Action: R. The 2025 righty throws from a 3/4th arm slot. He gets the ball out of the glove quick to let the great arm action work.
FB: T86, 81-86 mph. FB will play when he throws it in the zone mixing location. He has good backspin and velocity on his FB, plays above its velocity. Being able to mix locations will make his SL harder to hit and make hitting off hit uncomfortable T2097, 1996 average rpm.
SL: 72-75 mph. Spins his SL well, SL will play when its in the zone with good downward action to it; Will get swing and miss with the sharp break T2258, 2237 average rpm.
ATH: 7.10 runner in the 60. 1.81 and 4.00 10 and 30 yard splits.
