Scouting Report
The 2021 LHSAA Class 5A State Tournament was a memorable one, thanks in part to the 11 inning battle between district rivals Barbe and Sam Houston. Great play after great play was made during that game by both teams and Ashton Fuselier had a couple himself. The 2020 Future Gamer made one of the best plays I’ve ever seen by catcher. With a runner on 1st, Barbe attempted a bunt and Fuselier exploded out of his crouch, grabbed the ball, and threw a dart to second base, in what turned out to be a huge out. Fuselier also threw out a would be Barbe stealer, which shut down the Bucs running game. After catching 10 innings, he then showed his positional versatility by moving to CF. Fuselier is a gritty player with a high motor and will be on a lot of college recruiters radars come June 1.
