Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: RHP/OF Cole Honick

As we wrap up the summer of 2023, we now continue our coverage of the talent we've seen so far this year in Colorado with 'Uncommitted Spotlights' of the top prospects still on the board in the senior class. While there's already over 30 prospects in the class committed to programs already, there remains a slew of high-end talent still available.

Today, we continue our Top Uncommitted Senior Spotlights with a look at 2024 RHP/OF Cole Honick of Rocky Mountain HS. Honick comes with exceptional spin rates already near 3,000 RPMs on his off-speed, along with a fastball in the mid 80s. The athletic and strong frame on Honick projects for a higher ceiling to go with his elite off-speed.

Positional Profile: RHP/OF High follow for grade. Athleticism on all fronts, high ceiling on the mound with elite spin. Strength and feel all around.
Body: 5-11, 166-pounds. Strong and athletic build.
Hit: RHH. Upright, feet wide, hands at shoulder, bat angle upright, bat wiggle. Load onto backside, small leg kick and stride, active lower half, rotational top half, short to the baseball, long through the zone. 73 mph bat speed with 13 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: Line drive swing with active power and quality hands.
Arm: RH. OF-92 mph. Longer arm swing out of a 3/4 arm slot.
Defense: Fields the ball out front, funnels to hip, fluid transfer and release, works through target.
