LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - With the high school season about half done throughout the state we thought it an apt time to take a look at some uncommitted players in the 2022 class that are having strong spring seasons. These players have shown our staff they have the goods to play baseball beyond high school at some level. 

Whether it has been at a PBR event or while playing with their high school teams, these 10 players have shown enough to our team of scouts for them to feel strong enough about their abilities as they head towards college. 


Scouting Report

1/09/22

Physical: 5-10, 175 pounds; Athletic, proportional build. 6.84 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; flat bat to start. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride with a foot that gets down early for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a compact swing path with hands that work inside the ball with a two handed finish. More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 88.00 MPH via Trackman. Used the whole field. Decent on-plane efficiency of 75%.

Defensively: OF - 90.00 MPH. Takes a relaxed approach to the ball. More upright. Slows down momentum when fielding. Field out front. Regathers into crow-hop. Strong OF arm. 4/5 accurate mix of no-hop/1-hop throws. Medium arm circle in the back. Works with noticeable effort and arm speed to release.

Physical: 6-2, 180 pounds; Athletic, broad shouldered build. 6.88 runner in the 60.

Offensively: Switch hitter. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Short take back with the hands with a slight leg-kick for timing. Drifts into contact while showing a strong lower half. Showed a moderate swing path with a high finish.  More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 98.00 MPH via Trackman. Williams bat continues to improve from both sides of the plate. Showing BP HR power from both sides. Consistent improvement is a great sign for down the line success. 2025 MLB draft watch.

Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; walks into ready position while showing active feet. Hands work through the ball with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. OF - 86.00 MPH. Williams speed and size gives him ability in all 3 outfield spots. Arm continues to increase velocity and could make him a plus-defensive candidate in right-field.

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Physical: 6-0, 195-pounds; Athletic, muscular build. 6.88 runner in the 60.

 Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Short take back with the hands with a slight leg-kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with one-handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 97 MPH via Trackman. Physical hitter with strong feel for the barrel, compact and short with ability to drive the baseball, simple approach which allows his talents to live and breathe. 

 Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep step while being aggressive. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 80 MPH. Consistently accurate strong arm, light feet, all the attributes of a well-above average defensive 3rd baseman.

Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with shoulders above the hips. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while showing some scap load; standard 3/4 slot. Square to the plate with finish. FB: Peak velo of 84 MPH, while sitting 83-84 MPH; arm side run with sink. CB: 68-69 MPH; lands for strikes. SL: 74-76 MPH; 2-tier break. CH: 76-77 MPH; runs. Feel for the ball, four useful pitches, compact delivery with ability to repeat, stoic demeanor, secondary position for him but projects as potential bullpen arm down beyond the HS level.

Physical: 6-0, 185 pounds; Sturdy, proportional build. 7.16 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Loads straight back with an up and down stride for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a moderate swing path with a a high finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 92.00 MPH via Trackman. Took some nice swings, pretty finish, hitting ability. .

Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are underneath the body with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot.  Quality defensive feel, outfield and catcher help his high school versatility.

Physical: 6-1, 185 pounds; Proportional, sturdy build. 7.18 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Drops hands on the way back with a slight leg-kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a moderate swing path with a two handed finish.  More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 92.00 MPH via Trackman. Good timing and hitting positioning, oppo approach could help increase average.

Defensively
: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing choppy feet. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. OF - 82.00 MPH. Capable outfield ability, slow and steady to the ball, long hop throws showed well.

Positional Profile: OF/2B/P

Physical: 5-9, 165-pounds; Muscular, proportional build. 7.51 runner in the 60.
 

Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet wide spread; upright bat position. Short take back with the hands with a heel lift for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with two-handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 89 MPH via Trackman. Consistently hits ball hard, maxes out present strength, hits hard to all fields, somewhat hitterish presence.
 

Defensively: Starts with a low to the ground setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are out in front while staying low during transfer. Short take back from a high-3/4 arm slot. INF - 82 MPH. OF - 85 MPH. OF approach is similar, squares up, fields out front, aggressive move to the ball, arm stroke a bit deeper, aggressive thrower at both INF and OF, true utility profile as OF/INF.

Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup working primarily from the stretch. Belt high leg drive with shoulders above the hips. Has a moderate stride while landing slightly closed. Moderate arm swing while showing no restrictions; high/over the top slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 82 MPH, while sitting 81-82 MPH; plays up in the zone. CB: 67-69 MPH; 11-5 shape. CH: 75-76 MPH; fading action. Reliever type with ability to go up with FB and pound CB below bats, attacking style.

Positional Profile: SS/OF

Physical: 5-8, 150 pounds; Athletic, lean build. 6.89 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet shoulder width apart; upright bat position. Loads straight back with a moderate leg kick for timing. Drifts into contact while showing a strong lower half. Showed a flat swing path with a one-handed finish.  More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 92 MPH via Trackman. Hands start high and do well to stay above the ball.

Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep step while playing low to the ground. Hands are out in front while staying low during transfer. Moderate arm circle from a low 3/4 arm slot. INF - 74 MPH. OF - 79 MPH. Longer arm action in the OF, similarly athletic feet while also fielding ball out front on the move, fluid actions.

Positional Profile: OF

Physical: 6-1, 170-pounds; Athletic, proportional build. 7.02 runner in the 60.
 

Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; flat bat to start. Loads straight back with a heel lift for timing. Drifts into contact while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with two handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 85 MPH via Trackman. Opposite field approach, stride closes, short to and through it, spray/contact oriented approach.
 

Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; walks into ready position while being aggressive. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high-3/4 arm slot. OF - 77 MPH. Gets rid of it quickly, quick to the ball with athletic actions to and through the ball, energetic.

Positional Profile: SS/2B

Physical: 6-0, 155-pounds; Athletic, proportional build. 7.19 runner in the 60.

Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Short take back with the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a direct swing path with one-handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 91 MPH via Trackman. Slashing stroke, sees ball well,can spray line drives around, works with a contact oriented approach.

Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep step while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are soft while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 81 MPH. Sees ball early, efficient quiet actions, gets ball underway quickly, calm presence, has balance through the finish of the play.

Physical: 5-11, 170-pounds; Broad shouldered, athletic build. 7.35 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a toe-tap for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with two handed finish with occasional top hand release. More fly balls than line drives and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 91 MPH via Trackman. Aggressive attack angle, has barrel control, ability to stay fairly compact to ball with extension through contact.

Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands work through the ball with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 81 MPH. Sure-handed, clean first step, efficient release with arm talent to make above average plays, mechanically sound with athletic actions.
