Scouting Report

9/17/16
A 5-foot-11, 155-pound wiry frame, room to add size and strength. Defensively, good angles, sure hands, accurate arm with carry, clean actions, natural instincts. Made tough backhand plays look routine. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, stays behind the baseball. Upright open stance, leg kick, level plane through contact.

10/29/16
A 5-foot-11, 175-pound lean frame with room to add strength. A very repeatable smooth delivery with good rhythm, high-3/4 slot, finishes to first base side. Fastball shows consistent run, 74-78 mph, controlled. Curveball used sparingly, 69 mph, showed depth. Changeup has good fade, 71 mph. All three pitches for strikes. Andrews game up one hit, had one strikeout, and only threw three balls in his quick inning of work. Defensively, good angles, sure hands, accurate arm with some carry, 74 mph across the infield, clean actions, natural instincts. Made tough backhand plays look routine. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, stays behind the baseball. Upright open stance, leg kick, level plane through contact, 74 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.25 60. Singled through the right side of the infield in the game, going 1/3 with two walks and a strikeout.          

10/29/17
A 5-foot-9, 154-pound lean frame with room to add size and strength. On the mound, uses an up-tempo and  abbreviated wind-up with good rhythm that he repeats well, finishes to the first base side. Arm action is moderate in length, clean, and consistent coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 77-78 mph, keeping its plane. Curveball shows near 12/6 shape with above average depth, 63-66 mph. Changeup has consistent fade, thrown with full arm speed, 66-68 mph. Andrews fills up the strike zone with all three pitches for strikes, keeps hitters off balance, and competes well. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly open and back leg heavy stance with rhythm throughout. Uses a moderate hanging leg kick and hand load, bat path is flat to contact with a high finish, some length. In BP, shows a middle of the field and flat approach with occasional lift to the pull side, almost all barrels. Exit velo of 81 mph. Runs a 7.19 60. Defensively, shows consistent, clean, and confident actions, above average feet and hands, and makes the slow roller play with athleticism. Throws from multiple slot with ease, one of the only infielders to complete every throw not only in the showcase, but in the game as well, very accurate, 76 mph across the diamond. In the game, made multiple defensive plays, including a web gym slow roller play, and drew two walks.
