No.7 in our updated Colorado 2020 Rankings is uncommitted catcher Declan Wiesner out of Valor Christian High School. An athletic catcher at 6-foot, 190 pounds, Wiesner has advanced bat speed offensively, which was evident at the Future Games with a 94 mph exit velo. Wiesner, does a good job controlling the game behind the dish. Wiesner has soft hands receiving behind the plate with good ability to block from both sides. Also demonstrates the ability to be a good field general. Arm velo down to 2B is 80 mph. Also impressed with a 6.98 60 time for a catcher at the Future Games. Currently.  It's a matter of not if but when Wiesner chooses from multiple options to go D-1

10-1-17
5-foot-11, 190-pound right hand hitting C/1B.  During the FPG we saw him on the second day behind the plate.  He is a strong athletic catcher who had pop-times of 1.90-1.95.  He sets up well behind the plate and has smooth athletic actions on balls in the dirt.  He throws from an over the top arm slot with accuracy to the bag.  Arm velocity was 76 MPH.  At the plate he had several extra base hits with an uphill swing path and power to the left center gap.

1-29-17
5-foot-11, 190 pounds. Bats and throws right. Physical kid with strong forearms and bat speed. Has leg kick stride, down in time, and has gap to gap power. Bat stays in hitting zone with good extension through the ball. Produced exit velocity of 91 mph and ran 4.03 home to first. Bat speed has a chance to continue developing and is already advanced for his age. Ball jumps off his bat. Behind the dish show same athletic abilities. Arm velocity was 71 mph. Has slight hesitation on throw downs that is easily corrected causing 2.4 pop time.
