TRACKMAN HITTER OF THE WEEK: 2023 1B/OF JASON FRIESEN
Friesen was a name that stood out at the Windsor Selects scout day back in August. The most impressive part about his ability in the box is his consistency. Although one round of batting practice is a small sample size, he had an average EV of 88.1 mph which sits top 3% in the country, while also producing a max EV of 94.7 mph which is top 5%.
Power and consistency are hard to come by, and Friesen was able to produce a sweet spot % of 100, one of the only people in the country to do so. Producing consistent LA’s, he had an average LA of 21.65, and staying away from groundballs and popups, which regularly lead to outs, is something many hitters struggle with. Friesen was able to avoid groundballs and popups completely.
As aforementioned, this was a relatively small sample size, so Friesen will be someone I will keep an eye on in 2022 to see if can replicate the impressive consistency he showed us at PBR back in August.
