One of the top unsigned arms in the Midwest is now off the board after RHP Hunter Hart (St. Joseph-Ogden HS, IL) made his commitment to Indiana University on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Hart is currently ranked No. 13 in Illinois and 57 overall after his meteoric rise this spring and summer, which included a stellar showing at the PBR Top Prospect Showcase in June.
On Sunday, we posted a story on Hart that he had narrowed his schools down to three: Indiana, Southern Illinois and Alabama-Birmingham. Hart also said that he’d “probably come to a decision by the end of the month.”
As a junior, Hart led St. Joseph-Ogden to the Class 2A supersectionals by posting an 11-2 record with a 1.16 ERA. In 66.1 innings, he racked up 136 strikeouts to 38 walks and yielded only 21 hits all season. In a stretch in mid-April, he didn’t allow a hit for 21.1 consecutive innings, which included two no-hitters and combined for a third.
