Top Ten Profiles of 2021: No. 5 Andrew Wiggins

Indiana Staff

2023 Indiana commit, Andrew Wiggins (OF, Heritage Christian HS) had the fifth most viewed player profile this year. Wiggins continues to improve and is only going to become a bigger impact at the plate.  At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds he has the ability to stay balanced at the plate and put a charge into the ball from the left side. As he continues to add strength and incorporate his lower half more, the exit velocities will only get louder. Wiggins is ranked No. 2 in Indiana and No. 59 in the National rankings.

Scouting Report

7/15/20

Wiggins stands at 6-foot-3, 197 pounds, boasting an advanced and athletic frame with the body control to go along with it. He showcased the talent on the mound with feel for multiple pitches, using a high leg kick and driving from the backside extending through the catcher. The arm action is quick and loose, as the fastball was up to 86 mph and he commanded a big breaking ball adequately at 67-69. He also has a strong left-handed bat and drives the ball with authority with the flick of his wrists. As he learns to incorporate his lower half more, he’ll tap into some big power.

MW JR. FALL CHAMPIONSHIP: Wiggins has emerged as one of the top two-way talents in the Midwest and he sparked the Indiana Bulls Black 15U squad from the top of the order on Saturday. He swings a loud and fast left-handed bat and he uses his advanced footspeed to get around the basepaths with relative ease – he made easy work of an inside-the-park homer or triple and an error, depending how you scored it. He makes it look easy in the batter’s box and he’s tooled-up – oh, and he’s also a strong 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. Wiggins towers over his peers, figuratively and physically, and looks to be a national follow inside this freshman class.
