Top Prospect - Milwaukee: Quick Hits
July 14, 2021
On Tuesday, July 13, the PBR Wisconsin and Illinois scouting staffs traveled to The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, WI, to host our annual Top Prospect- Milwaukee event. This invite-only event hosted some of the top uncommitted 2022s between the two states with a plethora of college coaches in attendance.
Today, at the event’s conclusion, we’ll highlight several standouts and highlight performances from yesterday’s showcase. You’ll see more content roll out throughout the week, such as our traditional stats story and several data-mined pieces thanks to our partners at TrackMan and Blast Motion.
For now, let’s take a look at a few standouts from Tuesday’s event at The Rock.
THE ARMS
+ RHP Tyler Deleskiewicz (Lake Geneva Badger, 2022) brought the top fastball velocity in attendance to the Top Prospect Milwaukee. Deleskiewicz topped at 91 mph, sitting 89-90 mph with above average run and sink paired with a slurvy breaking ball thrown aggressively at 77-78 mph.
RHP Tyler Deleskiewicz (@LGBadgerBSBL, 2022) comes out hot in his inning of work. Lanky, high-waisted 6-foot-5, 210-pound frame.

Attacked hitters at 89-90 with his FB, T91 mph; sink and run. Spun off several above-average SL with late break off a 10/4 plane. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/bBZgkdaDNx
+ RHP Carson Klaus (Adams Friendship, 2022) is a unique upside arm who works out of a ¾ slot and gets well above average horizontal movement to both sides of the plate. Klaus sat at an easy 85-87 mph with his fastball and 70-72 mph with a lateral curveball that spins in the 2400-2600 rpm range. Most notably, both pitches average more than 16 inches of horizontal movement to opposite sides of the plate, making a difficult at bat for opposing hitters.

Well-proportioned 6-foot-1, 192-pound frame that projects. Short arm stroke, right window. FB comes out at 85-87 mph, feel to spin CB at 2,400+ RPM avg. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/Bi0vyHVdkX
+ Infielder Dylan O’Connell (Eau Claire Memorial, 2022) may have walked away as one of the bigger risers in the 2022 class. Just inside the top 100, O’Connell is an athletic 5-foot-10, 175-pounds and ran a 6.76 in the 60, showed an 89 mph arm across the diamond and put up one of the top exit velos, finishing his round with a 101 mph shot to left field. O’Connell carried it over to game play as well showing strong bat to ball skills and ability to get to the same hard hit contact he showed in BP.
+ RHP Luke Sopha is another Pewaukee prospect with an intriguing upside. At 6-foot-4, 195-pounds, Sopha showed a clean and quick arm that sat 83-85 mph, touching 86 mph. He uses two breaking balls, of which the curveball showed more use and feel at 70-72 mph and showing spin rates north of 2200 rpm.
RHP Luke Sopha (@PKEBaseball, 2022) emerges today as a high-follow ‘22 arm in his PBR event debut.

Proportional 6-foot-4. 195-pound frame; projects. FB works at 83-85, T86 mph with run/sink from low release. Can land CB for strikes off a 12/6 plane, too. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/XD8GXbFLWT
+ In game two, Team 3 rolled out southpaw after southpaw, with quality results. LHP’s Owen Deprez (Luxemburg-Casco, 2022), Ashton Michek (Bangor, 2022), Freddie Elftmann (Wheaton North, 2022) and Michael Carpenter (Arrowhead, 2022) all showed low to mid 80s fastballs with complimentary off-speed stuff. Owen Deprez showed arguably the best breaking stuff with a 66-69 mph slider that spun in the 23-2500 rpm range, and warranted a pair of strikeouts in his inning of work. Aston Michek showed the liveliest fastball of the group, sitting 84-85 mph and striking out the side in his inning.
LHP/OF Owen Deprez (Luxemburg-Casco, 2022) took a quality BP round and then turned some heads on the mound here. FB sitting 82-84 mph, clean and easy. CB is 66-67 mph, sweeping action with above-average spin rates.#TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/XhfIumT35n
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
LHP Michael Carpenter (@DiamondWarhawks, 2022) filling up the strike zone with a jumpy FB that’s been getting on hitters quickly; 81-83 mph. Spinning an above-average CB, too. Lanky, athletic 6-foot-1 frame.#TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/Uyk3Yib99d
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
Another lefty follow: LHP Ashton Michek (Bangor, 2022). Loose, quick arm; FB sitting 83-85 mph. Flashed CB feel, 61-64 mph. Earned some attention at #BadgerState and it carries over here.#TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/nmSAKISRWJ
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
+ LHP Williard Peterson (Evansville, 2022) showed some impressive stuff on the mound during the game. Peterson has an intimidating presence on the mound standing at 6-foot-3, 220-pounds. He has a long, loose arm action with a low ¾ arm slot. Peterson’s fastball sat 84-86 with cutting action to it and a 2,400 RPM average. His curveball had 1/7 break which sat 68-70 mph and averaged 2,592 RPM.
LHP Willard Peterson (Evansville, 2022) brings a large 6-foot-3, 220-pound presence to the mound.
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
Pumps his FB at 84-86 mph with cut at 2,400+ RPM average. Feel for the zone with his CB in the low-70s, 2,400-2,500 RPM average. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/JR7JOmUQnz
+ RHP Benjamin Lee (Amherst, 2022) is another pitcher that impressed. Standing at 6-foot-6 and 200-pounds and a quick arm and a high ¾ arm slot, he hides the ball very well behind his body making it tough to pick up. His fastball got up to 86 mph with late-life through the zone. He flashed a solid curveball with above average depth at 70-71 that played really well off of his fastball and got consistent swing and misses. Lee is athletic for how tall he is and uses his body very well to get down the mound. During the game he pounded the zone and showed good feel for both of his fastball and curveball.
RHP Ben Lee (@AmhFalconBsebll, 2022) is an uncommitted name to know. Showing improved CB feel today; flashed late, under the zone, 68-71 mph. FB sat 83-85 mph, T86, with notable carry/ride through the zone.#TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/eXIpfUWNg4

POSITION PLAYERS
+ Corner infielder Emiliano Ramos (Arrowhead, 2022) showed some power potential in BP on Tuesday with both the farthest hit ball of the day at 376’ and one of the hardest hit at just over 100 mph per TrackMan. Ramos showed it in game as well with a pair of hard hit singles to cap his day.
Coming off a strong spring with @DiamondWarhawks, ‘22 CIF Emiliano Ramos takes one of the louder BP rounds of the day.
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
6-foot, 190-pound frame; thick lower. Showed gap-to-gap juice, barreled one up at 100.4 mph, per @TrackManBB. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/UDHTiTQakR
+ INF Matthew Miller (Ozaukee, 2022) is a well-proportioned 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete with room to tack strength onto his frame. Miller found the barrel multiple times throughout his BP round and his 90.10 mph average exit speed in BP, per TrackMan, was the second-highest of the day. He translated that raw juice into gameplay, where he swatted a home run into the left-center gap.
+ Pewaukee’s Carson Hansen (2022) has been on an upward trend since his preseason showing at the Milwaukee Preseason I.D. He followed that up with a big spring campaign earning PBR First Team All-State honors, and has continued to show an intriguing profile suited for the next level. He’s a L/L athlete, with a physically impressive stature at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds. We’ve consistently seen him put up some of the better BLAST swing metrics in terms of rotational acceleration and hand speed, both which allow him to sequence his swing well and pull that trigger later than most hitters, all of which bodes well for his future against higher velocity arms.
Kicking our BP off today is LHH OF Carson Hansen (@PKEBaseball, 2022).
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
Professional 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame with plenty of physicality and projection left to come. 6.93 runner. Multiple batted balls over 90 mph, max of 96.5 mph, per @TrackManBB. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/NJO6KFPqrU
+ A spark plug in a small package, TJ Williams (Racine Horlick, 2022) ran an event best 6.38 in the 60, such an impressive time we had him run it again which he posted a 6.5 with a less than ideal start out of the box. His speed plays in game too where he’s always looking to put pressure on the opposing battery and takes a quality at bat approach that sees pitches and will make a pitcher work at the top of the lineup.
LHH INF TJ Williams (Racine Horlick, 2022) starts his workout with the fastest 60-yard dash of the day, clocking in at 6.38 on our lasers. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/GeoMmTcOvT
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
+ C/1B Alec Campbell (Milton, 2022) went 1-for-2 with a homerun in the second game of the showcase. Standing at 6-foot-2 and an athletic 200-pounds, Campbell is an imposing presence in the box where he took a strong round of BP (95 mph exit velocity), and carried it into the game with a long home run to his pull side. Campbell showed a strong arm in his workout as well, topping at 79 mph from the chute with accuracy to the bag and natural carry.
+ INF Kaiden Forsyth (Oconomowoc, 2022) had an outstanding day at the plate. The righty went two-for-two with two home runs over the left field wall. Forsyth is a strong, broad shouldered 6-foot-1, 240 pound batter and used his strength to elevate and drive the ball, in BP his exit velocity topped at 93 mph.
+ C/OF Levi Kline put together a solid overall day. The RHH is an above average athlete behind the plate at 6-foot-1,194-pounds. He started his day with a 6.91 in the 60, best of any catcher in attendance, and continued his showing in BP where he has a confident presence in the box and loose above average bat speed to drive the ball hard all over the field. ITs a middle of the field approach that topped at 96 mph exit velocity and translated in game where he drilled a ball to center-field that was ultimately caught.
C Levi Kline (@baraboobaseball, 2022) impressed in a few looks at #BadgerState last weekend.
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
Athletic 6-foot-1, 194-pound frame with muscular strength. Loud contact into the gaps off the barrel in BP, juiced one up at 96 mph, per @TrackManBB. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/z1QQaJvcoW
+ A standout for Pewaukee this spring offensively, OF Nick Doubek (2022) carries some upside attached to a lanky, high-waisted 6-foot-1, 174-pound frame. Doubek showed that in his BP round, using his levers to extend and elevate through contact, working gap-to-gap. He got ahold of one in game as well, driving it deep for a home run.
Another offensive standout for @PKEBaseball this spring: ‘22 OF Nick Doubek.
— PBR Wisconsin (@PBRWisconsin) July 13, 2021
Lanky, high-waisted 6-foot-1, 174-pound frame. Extends through contact with leverage, gap-to-gap feel to elevate. #TopProspectMKE pic.twitter.com/Ov5vIDEtl1
