Top Performer Report

Uncommittted '23 1B/RHP Jatnk Diaz (Hazleton Area) is an intriguing player. Diaz is well put together physically as he checks in at 6-foot-4, 230lbs with strength that clearly translates into his game. Diaz doesn't use a swing that is incredibly over powering where he will rarely find a barrel, he is able to generate big velocity numbers through a well controlled swing. Diaz Trackman numbers are pretty wild to look at, highlighted by his 106 MPH peak exit velocity. Diaz also works a 91% hard hit rate with a 64% sweet spot rate as well. Diaz moves well around 1B as he is above average athletically. Diaz is able to field and throw while working around the bag to turn double plays. With a max infield velo of 85 MPH, Diaz gives us a look at how he can run his FB up the ladder off the mound. On the mound, it is the same story with Diaz. Jatnk works under control into a repeatable leg lift and ventures down the mound in no hurry. Diaz plants his front foot on a strong, stable leg and allows the upper half to follow suit quickly down the mound. Diaz works a FB/CB/SL/CH mix where he flashes an 88 MPH peak velo on his heater. The off speed arsenal is workable and the SL & CB do, in fact, have the difference in velocity and shape to be two different pitches. Diaz is fun to watch as he can get the job done on the mound, in the box, or at 1B.
