Top Performer Report

Breaking down the performance of the #5 ranked outfielder in the NY 2024 grad class, Brayden Hy. Hy is a highly touted '24 outfield with a big season ahead of him. We got eyes on him twice this preseason, once at the Hot Corner Scout Day and the very next day at our PAS - West event. Hy only ran the 60 yard dash and hit at our West event because he worked out defensively at the Hot Corner Scout Day just the day before. On both occasions, Hy was very impressive. Fairly physically advanced for his age, Hy has no problem producing big numbers at the plate and in the outfield. Hy is fun to watch at the plate as he can post big numbers through a smooth, relaxed swing that never tries to do too much. Hy swings slightly uphill which induces a ton of hard line drives and fly balls (56% hard hit). Brayden's max exit velo is 98.1 MPH with much more left in the tank to make that a far higher number. Defensively, Hy is very smooth and has a quick first step. The arm strength is what turns heads as he works a huge arm swing and has late acceleration to throw downhill with good carry to the target (peak 85 MPH). Hy has a lot of eyes watching him this spring and will hopefully impress throughout the spring and into the summer.
