Scouting / Operations

It was a historic preseason here in Pennsylvania with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. While the outcome of the 2020 HS season is on hold, the Prep Baseball Report (PA) will continue to provide unrivaled coverage for the amateur baseball players in the Keystone State.

Scouting Report

2/15/20

5-foot-10, 190-pounder impressed with a well-rounded skill set that should make him a sought after prospect in the coming year. The primary pitcher sat 85-87 from a high 3/4 arm slot starting from a controlled side rocker step. Curveball at 67-72 showed two-plane biting action that was late. Also worked a cutter off the fastball at 82-84 that could become a very effective pitch with adjustments to the grip. Changeup at 78-79 was thrown at fastball arm speed with even more cut. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Showcased balance throughout with a middle of the field approach while staying behind the baseball. Registered a bat exit velocity of 92 mph and ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Finished off an impressive performance by showcasing athletic actions at third base with 90 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Standout Skill

Korn is very impressive on the mound. Running his fastball up to 87 with a easy effort delivery. He has the secondary stuff to go with it, sharp curveball with depth and change up with good arm speed and heavy cut. With refinement to the Cutter it will be a great addition.

Player Projection

Has the ability to be a 2-way player at the next level. On the mound he has the stuff to be a starter and compete at the next level. He shows he is capable at 3B with his athletic foot work and strong arm across at 90 MPH. He can handle himself at the plate as well, has good balance through the swing with a strong lower half and a good feel for the barrel. His gap to gap approach with present pop (92 MPH raw exit velocity) should keep him in the lineup.

Quick Hit

"At 5-foot-10, 190 pounds he shows present strength (92 MPH raw exit velo) and explosiveness (6.95 60-yard dash). As his measurables continue improving he is solidifying himself as a legit 2-way prospect at the next level. His stuff already plays on the mound and all signs point to him continuing to get stronger and more explosive so the Velo should continue to climb as well"
