Scouting / Operations

It was a historic preseason here in Pennsylvania with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. While the outcome of the 2020 HS season is on hold, the Prep Baseball Report (PA) will continue to provide unrivaled coverage for the amateur baseball players in the Keystone State.

Scouting Report

2/23/20

The primary 6-foot, 187 pound right-handed pitcher featured a strong, athletic frame with easy physicality in his actions. Impressed with one of the top bullpens of the day sitting 86-87 mph with an electric fastball up in the zone utilizing a fluid and athletic arm swing out of a repeatable, high ¾ arm-slot with quality leg drive on the backside. Countered with a 68-70 mph curveball that showed late 11/5 shape with depth. Mixed in a 71-72 mph changeup that played well when thrown down in the zone. With improved arm-speed on the CH, he will feature three legit pitches primed for the next-level. Advanced arm-speed on the fastball suggests that a quality changeup should develop in the future.

Standout Skill

The electric fastball is what stands out watching hi pen. Flashes arm side run down in the zone and when the 4-seam is elevated it has serious ride through the zone.

Player Projection

Bazala has the stuff to come into a program and compete on the mound right away. With 2 quality pitches in the fastball, a sharp breaking 11/5 curveball and the makings of a quality change up. The change up has good action to it and once he gets comfortable throwing it while maintaining his rhythm and arm speed it could be a swing and miss pitch at the next level.

Quick Hit

Strong, athletic build at 6-foot, 187 pounds. Has a fluid, easy delivery with a clean 3/4 release and can fill up the zone with 3 quality pitches. Appears to be more in the tank, If he is consistent with building momentum and getting into his back side he could see a jump in velo and the breaking stuff will only benefit. Exciting follow, can't wait to see his numbers on Trackman at the State Games this summer.
