Dan Cevette
President, New York

The last chance preview (Nov. 18) in Ardsley, NY displayed 60 high-end prospects showing off their skill-sets in front of our PBR NY scouting staff and finally the smoke as cleared. We are fast-at-work piecing together all the scouting data we collected. Today we highlight a player who's performance earns an extra look.

Last Chance Preview-Downstate (November 18, 2017) Full frame at 6-foot-2 250 pounds. The right-handed hitting catcher ran an improved 8.30 60. Offensively- Sets up slightly open with hands just off/up back shoulder. Barrel tips towards the mound during load phase; improved lower half aggression then from October event. Varied swing length; with power signs. Exit velocity was up 5 MPH to 90 MPH. Defensively- Behind the plate Cabrera sets up in a square position; gains ground during transfer. Arm action stays short with limited carry. Arm strength peaked at 68 MPH with pop times ranging from 2.26-2.38. Will need to be more explosive with actions behind the plate. The bat projects early in his HS career, overall body strength improvements will go a long way with Cabrera, excited to see him in February.
