As we approach the end of 2021, we're taking account of the PBR Oregon player profile pages to determine the players in our backyard whose profiles earned the most attention throughout the year. We're counting down the top-10 profiles in the state that received the most views, from 10 and on, concluding our countdown on New Year's Day by revealing the most-viewed profile of the year.

We’re getting close to wrapping up our end of the year countdown and today we’ll shine some light on RHP Buddy Brands (Tigard), who’s profile earned the second most views in the state throughout 2021. A physical 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete, Brands is currently the fifth-ranked prospect on our Oregon 2023 rankings and he’s inside the top-350 on the national rankings for the junior class, too. He represented the Pacific Northwest at the Future Games this August and caught the attention of Shooter Hunt, our Vice President of Scouting. Here’s what he had to say about Brands in his Shooter’s Standouts: Future Games Pitching article back in September:

“Brands looked every bit the part of a future starter as he dominated the opposition across two appearances. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-hander is an elite mover down the mound with a flawless delivery that allows him to find a consistent ¾ slot. The fastball worked at an effortless 86-88 to both sides of the plate producing some ride and run through the zone while procuring swings and misses. Brands flashed feel for both a gradual curveball in the low 70s that he landed for strikes, and a firmer cutter/slider in the upper 70s that holds upside as a potential out pitch moving forward. He also showcased feel for a faded 77-80 changeup that profiles well off the fastball. With relatively low miles on him, Brands has immense upside moving forward. He committed to Oregon following the event.”

Shortly after the Future Games, Brands committed to Oregon. Learn more about the future Ducks’ signee below.
