Top-10 Profiles of 2019: No. 5 Joe Hauser

By Andy Sroka
Staff Writer, Associate Scout

Still uncommitted into mid-May, the 2020 grad Joe Hauser was among the top two-way talents in the country still on the market. Ultimately, Hauser announced his commitment to Arizona State and he remains one of the state’s best prospects.

Hauser had long been one of the top talents in Wisconsin’s 2020 class, but his performance at the March showcase at GRB Academy was really one of the best single showcase performances in recent memory. He looked to be a high-level shortstop with some pop from the right side and stole the show on the mound among a loaded list of attendees. Then, he sat 89-90 mph with excellent feel and sink and he mixed in two different breaking balls and a sinking/fading change. It was a polished ‘pen, though it was one of the few times we were able to see him pitch in 2019.

He also produced one of the best moments of the high school season when on opening day, he slugged a walk-off home run for Waunakee against his old team, Sun Prairie.

Ranked inside the top-10 of this state’s 2020 class, we’ll be excited to get another close look at Hauser in the near future, hopefully early next year.
