The Power 25

As the spring baseball season prepares to kick off for all NIAA (Nevada Interscholastic Athletics Association) participants, PBR Nevada looks to acknowledge those teams that appear ready to compete at a high level. The 4A classification has 37 members, while 3A, 2A and 1A have 28, 18, and 32 respectively. Almost thirty percent of the schools state-wide submitted a preseason prospectus; consequently, heavy deliberation has taken place to arrive at the leaders in each classification. The Power 25 includes the top 10 teams in class 4A with the top 5 in each classification following.
It comes as no surprise that defending state champion, Palo Verde has earned the top spot heading into the 2019 campaign. The Panthers return a number of starters and have added some key personnel, looking to have possibly made them stronger than they were a year ago. They are followed closely by Desert Oasis. The Diamondbacks return an array of pitching as well and likewise have added some additional players that look to bolster their roster. Desert Oasis is followed by intra-division rival Basic at #3, while Bishop Gorman lands at #4. Our first Northern Region recognition belongs to #5 Bishop Manogue. The Miners have a balanced offensive attack and a lot of pitching depth to accompany the experience of a state tournament bid a year ago.
