Team Preview: Num. 23 Madison-Ridgeland Academy
February 12, 2019
The Mississippi high school season kicks off on February 26, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 29, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.
Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.
We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.

Outlook
Coming in at Num. 23 in our Preseason Power25 are the Patriots of Madison-Ridgeland Academy as they have a good mix of young talent and experience. Coach Allen Pavatte will look to his seniors Cody Swanson and Bailey White to provide the leadership required to keep the young roster at bay. 2020 Christopher Snopek leads the charge on the infield and has shown a solid approach at the plate posting a batting average of .444 in his sophmore season. Several talented underclassmen will also be counted on to have a big role this year as well including 2021 grads Niko Mazza and Brayden Jones. Mazza is a two-way player that displays a quick arm on the mound running fastball up to 89 mph while Jones has flashed a solid two pitch mix working the fastball around 83-86 mph. Although the Patriots have a lot of youth on the field, this group has the talent to carry them a long way in 2019.
