Scouting Report

6/6/17
A right-handed hitter that starts in a an athletic setup. Swing is fluid and natural tools stand out amongst the crowd. Ball explodes off his bat, showing pop to both sides. Took two balls out during batting practice to his pull side. Checks all of the boxes for a run producer at the next level. Behind the plate arguably the top catch and throw skills in his class. Footwork and exchange are as quick as you’ll find. Well above average athlete behind the plate.

Richardson is put together at 6-foot-0, 190-pounds and his physicality shows most at the plate. The righty has an aggressive approach at the plate with very impressive bat speed through the zone. When he found the barrel, his juice rivaled most in attendance. Over the past few weeks, Richardson has gone from under the radar and unranked to proving he belongs amongst the state’s top prospects. The New Richmond product is a versatile defender that looks the part behind the plate and third base. Behind the plate, he had the quickest feet and transfer out of any catcher in attendance, recording a pop time low of 1.94 in his defensive workout (we saw him record pop times as low as 1.88 earlier this winter). In addition, he looked comfortable and confident handling the talented arms he caught in bullpen session.

1/16/17
A very talented right-handed hitter. Movements are fluid and bat speed is impressive. Ball jumps off his bat. Drove the ball with authority to both sides of the field.  Also was very impressive in his defensive workout behind the plate and in the infield. Showed very quick/efficient footwork behind the plate. Transfer skills are well above average. Solid catch and throw skills all around. A talented third baseman that has very solid skills across the board. Footwork is efficient and glove skills are well above average. Moves light on his feet and his actions remain on the move.

5-foot-9, 160-pound athletic build. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Has a good load to get his weight back with a short, compact swing that produced two singles in the game and 77 mph exit velocity. Ran 5.14 home to first. Behind the plate he starts with a good wide base. Good footwork to get his feet in line and quick transfer. Throws form a short, high-3/4 slot with pop times ranging from 2.18-2.25 and 71 mph arm strength. Over at third base he shows good range for his age with clean exchange and 74 mph arm strength across the diamond.
