Scouting Report

 

8/4/18 - James is an impressive 6-foot-4 200-pound righty, a physical presence on the mound.  He comes from an over the top arm slot and showed signs of dominance in his outing.  After giving up a pair of hits, he fanned the side the turn away a Kentucky scoring threat.  His fastball range was 83-85 mph, touching 86 mph, and he showed a sharp late breaking curveball at 72-75 mph.  His breaking ball was buckling at times and produced several swing and misses.  He finished with four strikeouts and allowed just one walk.

6/12/18 - James is a physical 6-foot-4 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. James comes from a high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, works slightly across body, threw strikes with fastball and breaking ball, fastball worked consistently at 83-84 mph, late arm side run, two-seam action, threw a sharp slider with late 10-to-4 action, 70-72 mph, swing and miss potential, high ceiling with mature and athletic frame and above average slider.

 

 

2/18/18 - James is a 6-foot-4 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. James was impressive with size, velocity, command and delivery, repeats a smooth delivery with acceleration and in line direction, over the top release with quick arm speed and loose arm action, fastball topped at 88 mph and sat mostly at 85-87 mph, fastball has two-seam action late, showed an advanced breaking ball for age with a sharp 11-to-5 shape, has depth and looks to be a swing and miss pitch, change up as late arm side sink, developed frame with quick arm speed looks to be a top pitcher in his class.
