Scouting Report

 

8/4/18 - Kardell is a long build and very athletic.  He stands 6-foot-6 195-pounds and is a physical presence in box and behind the plate.  He posted pop times between 2.04 and 2.17-seconds, with a positional velo of 84 mph.  He has a quick glove to hand transfer, with a strong base underneath him, Kardell throw down hill to second with mostly accurate throws on the bag.  At the plate, he showed power to the middle and pull side of the field.  He has an aggressive swing with quick bat speed, hitting with leverage in his lower half. On the mound, Kardell was another imposing and physical pitcher for Team Missouri.  Kardell sat 84-86 mph with fastball, touching 88 mph.  His breaking ball worked at 73-75 mph with 11-to-5 action.  He commanded both pitches recording three strikeouts and allowing just one walk in two innings on the mound.  At 6-foot-6 195-pounds expect to see his velo to keep climbing.

 

 

2/10/18 - Kardell is a 6-foot-5 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 6.97 60 and has a 92 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide base, quick reverse to top, slightly closed stride, level path, swing produced hard contact to the middle of the field with occasional pull side power.  Behind the plate, pop times between 1.96 to 2.10-seconds, staggered base, short over the top arm slot, aggressive out of set up, quick feet, quick catch and throw, throws are on line and accurate with carry, tall and lean build with athletic actions, sits low for size.

 

 

10/23/16 - Kardell is a lean and projectable 6-foot-5 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.27 60 and a 4.63 home-to-first.  He has an 89 mph exit velo, one of the top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, balanced stance, short in line stride, hands walk away from stride, quick and level bat path, middle of the field contact, flashed power, singled to left and doubled to left center in game action.  Behind the plate, short and quick over the top release, fluid footwork working with exchange, aggressive, pop times between 1.90 and 2.05-seconds, one of the top catcher pop times for the event, 80 mph positional velo, top velo for the event for catchers, mostly accurate throws with back spin carry. On the mound, Kardell posted the top fastball velo of the event at 84 mph, working mostly 82-83 mph, fastball has late sink, showed 11-to-5 breaking ball, sharp at times, 71-72 mph, worked to contact during outing, allowing one hit, tall and lean frame, quick arm speed, controlled delivery, repeats well, high three quarters release, throws on a downhill plane.
