7/01/19

A Miami (Ohio) recruit, Back has an athletic, muscular frame at 5-foot-9, 180 pounds with twitch to his game. He has athletic footwork behind the dish with above average arm strength and accuracy to his throws. Offensively, he has a quick bat from the right side and a strong lower half that gives him present gap-to-gap power. He also runs a blazing 6.54-second 60-yard dash.

6/12/18

Extremely athletic 2020 catcher who has a good tool set to his game. Hits from the right side, simple athletic setup in the box. Bat is short and compact with above average bat speed throughout the zone. Uses strong lower in swing. Showed off good power to all parts of the field, ball jumps off the barrel. Behind the dish showed good set up, above average receiver as well. Clean exchange with good footwork on pops, arm strength is above average and showed good accuracy with carry to 2nd pops were 1.87-1.95. Very good follow the rest of the summer.

3/30/18

Spring Scout Blog: Uncommitted, projectable 2020 with good athleticism behind the plate and on the bases. Ranked number 20 in the 2020 class the 5-foot-9 backstop has above average hands with fluid feet and a quick exchange which allowed pop times of 1.89, 1.99, and 2.03. Quiet at the plate and sets up open in the RHH box with a short stride and a part lower half. Good balance with twitch. Short to the ball with a slightly uphill plain. Gap to gap at the moment but potential to add some additional pull side power down the road. Runs well. Back who has been a relative unknown to this point will not stay that way. Still raw with considerable room to grow.
