Louisville commit. Currently ranked No. 6 in the Illinois’ 2020 class and No. 162 overall. 6-foot-3, 205-pound, right-handed pitcher; Strong, wide-shouldered, thick lower half, workhorse type of frame. Started on the mound for Carmel. One of the strongest arms in the state. Did not throw a fastball under 90 mph until the third inning, touching 93 once. Attacks hitters with his fastball, works across his body, creating deception. Fastball has late finish through the zone, works mostly straight, occasional late run; sat 87-92 mph. Gained feel for his breaking ball and went to it more often as the outing went on. Did change shapes and action, worked mostly 11/5, late bite at times, 78-82 mph. Only saw one changeup in game, maintained arm speed, straight. Final Line: 7 IP, 3 H, R, 9 K, 2 BB.

6.19.18 - Louisville recruit. Broad-shouldered with a long, athletic, 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame, Wiegman certainly looks the part atop the rubber. Standing tall, he puts together a simple, compact delivery striding slightly across his body before delivering out of a high ¾ slot. His fastball sat 88-90 in his relief appearance, and he pounded it for strikes showing control in the zone. His 75-76 slurvey breaking ball was also thrown for strikes, and while not a swing and miss offering, yet, his athleticism and strong arm make me believe that it may one day evolve into one.

5.15.18 - Louisville commit. Currently ranked No. 3 in Illinois’ Class of 2020. 6-foot-3, 205-pound, muscularly-built with wide shoulders and a high waist, right-handed pitcher. Continues to solidify himself as one of the top 2020 arms. Short draw, extremely fast arm speed, high ¾ slot, regular effort. Smooth rhythm, tall and fall delivery, momentum works downhill towards home, finishes crossing over. Fastball, mostly straight on the day, had total command of and used in multiple ways, went inside/out with, climbed the ladder effectively, sat 88-90 in the first inning, maintained 88-90 through the third inning, dipped to 86-87 touching 90 once in the sixth and finished sitting 87 in the seventh. Curveball, 11/5 shape, maintains arm speed and slot, hard, late action, mostly 76-77, a few at 78 and 79 early on and one at 82. Was able to locate inside and out. Set batter’s up with a fastball and then would start a curveball down the middle only to have it break off the plate, resulted in numerous swing and misses. Seven of eight strikeouts were on curveballs. Final line against Notre Dame: W, 7 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 8 SO, 1 BB.

2.18.18 - Louisville commit. 6-foot-3, 205-pound, two-way prospect; muscular frame, broad shoulders and barrel chest. One of the top right-handed pitcher in the 2020 class. Lightning quick arm, works short and from a high ¾ window. Uptempo, tall and fall delivery, works on-line and lands square. Fastball jumps out of the hand, late run and sink action, life through the hitting zone, sat at 90 mph, touched 91 once. Curveball, thrown with conviction, late, sharp action, 11/5 shape, 81-82 mph. Changeup, fastball arm speed, mostly straight, occasional arm-side-run, thrown for strikes, 81-82 mph. Ran a 6.98 laser-timed 60. Offensively, right-handed hitter, balanced setup, smooth load, toe-tap stride. Fast bat, strong contact; 89 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, profiles at third base. Active feet, works through the baseball, reliable hands. Ability to throw from multiple angles, plus arm strength, clocked at 90 mph across the diamond.

5.15.17 - Louisville commit, currently ranked No. 1 in the 2020 Illinois class. 6-foot-2, 200-pound, right-handed hitter with strong, physically advanced frame. Only DH’d on the day. Open, upright setup, big pre-pitch load to his backside and present bat speed. Gap-to-gap approach at the plate with power potential at the plate. High-level 2020 prospect.

4.15.17 - Louisville recruit, currently ranked No. 30 in overall 2020 PBR rankings. Physically advanced for age, 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame, wide shoulders, strong lower half. High-level pitching prospect, but also a highly advanced right-handed hitter. In fact, currently is Carmel’s leading hitter batting in the three-hole. In the doubleheader, he went 4-for-6 with a walk and hit by a pitch. Comports himself with maturity and a level of swagger in the box well beyond his years. Relaxed approach, natural rhythm in load, pre-pitch waggle with pronounced leg kick, advanced timing for age. Loose hands, above average bat speed.. … Earned the win on the mound, pitching all five innings in a mercy-rule victory.  Allowed three hits, struck out six with two walks. Fastball sat 86-88 mph in the first two innings and dipped to 83-85 later in the outing when the game was out of reach. Works from high-3/4 slot, shorter arm action, fast hand out front. Side rocker step delivery, works across his body, shorter stride, slight crossfire action, inconsistent landing. Also worked in an upper-70s cutter/slider and 68-72 mph curveball.

7.26.16 - Louisville commit. 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, large body type for his age. Delivery worked exclusively from the stretch, tall and fall type, front side stays closed. Arm action is quick and strong, high ¾ slot, shorter action. Plus fastball for his age, played at 83-85 mph, mostly straight, lacked command in this outing, lively through the hitting zone. Changeup is 72-73 mph, flashed slight cut action. Right-handed hitter, slightly open stance, leg kick trigger. Has bat strength for age, balance in the box can improve, occasional hard contact to pull side. 88 mph exit velocity from the tee.

3.6.16 - 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitting utility player. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a long stride. Pull hitter with a long, uphill swing path. Showed advanced strength thru contact with 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.40. Defensively in the outfield has a short arm action form an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball with quick footwork. Showed plus arm strength from the outfield throwing 88 mph. In the infield has athletic actions with a quick exchange and soft hands. Threw 78 mph across the diamond. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, lightning quick arm action. Works exclusively from the stretch. Tall and fall, online delivery with an upright finish. Fastball was straight at 82-83 topping out at 84 mph. Changeup missed up in the zone at 70-73 mph. Knuckleball showed downer action at 67-69 mph. Struggled to command pitches early in bullpen, but settled in and threw strikes. High follow prospect.
