Matt Gordon is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound RHP/1B who has impressed at a number of PBR events in 2012. With his size he has an intimidating presence on the mound. Gordon sits 81-83 mph with his running fast ball. He has good command of two quality off-speed pitches, and consistently stayed down in the zone during his bullpens and game action. With his size and ease of delivery a spike of 5-7 mph is realistic over the next two years.
The member of Team Pennsylvania at the Midwest Future Games in August was one of the top pitchers on the PA staff at the event. Gordon was very impressive on day one showcasing an 83 mph fastball, a 75 mph changeup at near fastball arm speed and a 68 mph curveball with good rotation.
Gordon is coming off of a 7-0 2012 campaign for the Eagles and will likely be the No. 1 starter for his final two seasons of action. He is ranked No. 45 in the PA Class of 2014 rankings.
