Executive Director, PBR of NC

The 3rd annual PBR Junior Future Games kicked off at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia with some of the top 2024 and 2025 players in the country going through their workout day.  Team Carolina features 17 of the top 14U players in North Carolina and South Carolina.  The workout day consisted of a full pro-style workout with players running a timed 60, followed by live BP and an exit velocity station, and then a full defensive workout from the player's primary position.

Team Carolina was very impressive with a blend of athleticism and strength.  Several player put up eye-popping numbers and have marked themselves as potential follows entering their high school careers.

Beginning on Thursday, Team Carolina will enter pool play, with double-headers scheduled for both Thursday and Friday.  On Thursday, Team Carolina will take on Team Indiana and Team Louisiana, beginning at 10:15am at LakePoint.

Statistical Leaders - Team Carolina JR Futures

Timed 60 Yard Dash

Players began the day with a hand timed 60 yard dash.  Multiple watches from the Team Carolina scouts and Team West Virginia scouts confirmed times.  Team Carolina posted 3 sixties under 7.00 and six under 7.20.  The median 60 for Team Carolina came in at 7.66.

Exit Velocity - Off a Tee

Part of the offensive workout included working off of a tee to record a static exit velocity.  A Stalker Pro SII was used to record the power from each player.  The top bolt was recorded at an impressive 92 mph off the barrel.  Five players saw an exit above 84 mph, with another four players at 80 mph or higher.

Positional Velocity - Infielders

Infielders did their work from shortstop and 1B, making multiple throws across the diamond, simulating live ground balls.  Scouts are looking for actions, feet, hands, rhythm, exchange, carry and accuracy, as well as arm strength.  Arm strength can be measured, to a point, by a radar gun.  The top infield velocities from Team Carolina Junior infielders are below.

Positional Velocity - Outfielders

A number of position players for Team Carolina can, and will, play all over the diamond.  Four players worked out from the outfield, making throws from right field to the plate.  Again, accuracy and carry can be gauged in a number of ways.  The radar gun helps to put a number on raw arm strength.

Pop Times and Positional Velocity - Catchers

Catchers made multiple throws through to 2B, simulating a stolen base attempt.  Coaches and scouts have a number of ways to evaluate catchers.  The Pop Time signifies the time from the ball hits a catchers glove to the time it takes for a throw to be received at 2B.  The positional velocity is the radar reading of those throws.  Two catchers worked out for Team Carolina, each making a mark.
