Rookie Review

What We Liked: Physical 6-foot, 200 lb frame with strength and athleticism in all the actions on the field. The hit tool impressed the most on this day. Nowlan produces some big time metrics with balance and ease through out the sweet lefty swing. The bat speed was up to 85 MPH, the rotational acceleration was up to 16.9 G. Bat speed equals raw power and when put together with a +rotational score Matt has what Blast Motion calls dynamic power. We got a first hand look at the dynamic power in his BP round where Matt had a peak exit velocity of 96 MPH / AVG 88 MPH and a peak distance of 332 ft. Matt also has a feel for the barrel covering all quadrants of the zone and the ability to use the whole field. Defensively the foot work is active while staying low to the ground while utilizing a soft glove with clean transfers. The arm strength is there while flashing the ability to get rid of it quick and from multiple arm angles. Will be a high follow in the class and we are excited to get another look at the lefty power bat at the State Games this summer.
