RIVER GROVE, IL - JUCO Region IV (Illinois and Wisconsin) hosted its Unsigned Sophomore Showcase on Wednesday, September 26th at Triton College in River Grove, IL. The players took place in a pro style workout with pitchers throwing bullpens. Today we breakdown some of the top performers and highlights from the event.
BLACKHAWK
Niko Klebosits, LHP, Black Hawk JC, (SO)
Left-handed pitcher with an athletic frame and strong lower half. High ¾ slot with a high front side, out front finish, while working on-line. Commanded the fastball, slight arm side run, ranging 82-84 mph. Curveball thrown for strikes, sat 68-69 mph. Showed feel for a change-up, with sink, slight run and fastball arm speed, 72-75 mph.
Adrien Reese, LHP, Black Hawk JC, (SO)
6-foot-3, athletically-built, projectable, left-handed pitcher. Long arm action, over-the-top slot. Fastball worked mostly straight, threw a couple two-seamers with late arm-side-run; sat 85-87 mph, touched 88. Changeup was best secondary offering, thrown for strikes, maintained arm speed, fade action, 75-76 mph. Curveball, inconsistent action, 66-68 mph.

CARL SANDBURG
Braedon Blackford, SS, Carl Sandburg, (SO)
5-foot-10, 165-pound, wiry-strong, left-handed hitting infielder. Offensively, open, balanced setup, coiled load and natural lift in swing. Looks to pull the baseball, hard contact to the pull-side and loose hands at times. Hit 11 doubles and had a .424 on base percentage as a freshman last spring. Defensively, steady defender, athletic feet, works through the baseball, accurate arm across the diamond.
