Recruiting Spotlight
JARED SHUSTER, LHP, TABOR ACADEMY, 2017
PBR: How is the fall progressing and what are your plans as the fall ends?
Schuster: The fall season is going well, I've taken some time to rest after a long summer of baseball. I've been getting ready to go down to Florida October 9th for a Perfect Game tournament. My plans after the fall are to rest my arm a little more and to work hard in school.
PBR: What are your goals for the upcoming season?
Schuster: My personal goals are to get stronger, faster and an overall better athlete. I'd love to add velocity and try to develop all of my pitches. Also I'd love to contribute in getting Tabor Academy another championship this year.
PBR: How is the recruiting process going and how are you handling it?
Schuster: The recruiting process has started for me and schools have shown interest. I'm still young and have plenty of time so I'm trying to not rush things.
PBR: What strengths do you bring to the mound and how are you looking to improve?
Schuster: On the mound I am very confident and I trust all of my pitches. I can attack hitters with my fastball and locate it very well. If a hitter is right on my fastball I can mix in my change up or curveball to try to fool them. Throughout these next few years I would like to continue to gain velocity, learn a new pitch or two and become a smarter pitcher. Overall, I just want to continue to work hard so I can keep getting better.
PBR: Who do you enjoy watching pitch in the MLB?
Schuster: Some pitchers I like to watch are Clayton Kershaw, Jon Lester, David Price, Cole Hamels, Madison Bumgarner and although he isn't in the MLB yet I love watching the top overall pick in last year's draft Brady Aiken pitch.
PBR: Who is the most influential person in your life so far?
Schuster: Since I can't choose one I'd have to say the most influential people in my life are both of my parents. Without my dad I probably wouldn't be the player I am now. He has taught me everything he knows about the game of baseball. My mom has always kept me positive through the good and bad parts of the game. She's a very hardworking lady and I appreciate everything she does for my family.
