Quick Hits: 2022 LHP Evan Chaffee (Hamburg)
January 5, 2021
Over the next few months the Prep Baseball Report (NY/PA) will be highlighting players in several different article formats, including Dan Cevette's "Quick Hits".
The "Quick Hits" article will focus in on standout players from our events our scouting staff has seen over the last year, allowing me the opportunity to give my quick hit thoughts on the player. Let's dive right in.
Evan Chaffee LHP / OF / Hamburg , NY / 2022CEVETTE'S TAKE: Chaffee stands 6-foot-2, 170-pounds and all has all the signs of a next-level arm. His mechanics are quick with some front-side drifting down the mound, luckily his athleticism allows his arm to catch up to his body and repeat his release point. He shows consistent feel for three advanced pitches, including an upper 80's MPH FB that has natural tail and life. As the lean lanky frame continues to develop expect the FB velocity to keep climbing, settling in the low/mid 90s. My crystal ball can already see the lefty wearing a professional baseball uniform in his future. STATE RANK: 2
