Q and A with Michael Korchak LHP (Seton Catholic HS, NY)
May 16, 2014
Dan Cevette
New York Scouting Director
Name: Michael Korchak
High School: Seton Catholic
College Commitment: Bucknell
Position: LHP
PBR New York sat down with LHP Michael Korchak for a little question and answer session.
PBR: How did you prepare for the 2014 season?
Korchak: In the off-season I worked out, hit, and threw to get ready for the spring.
PBR: What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
Korchak: My strength as a player is probably my ability to control my emotions. Whatever happens, good or bad, I try to stay focused and ready for the next pitch. My weaknesses as a player would be controlling my change up.
PBR: What made you pick Bucknell over all the other options you had?
Korchak: I visited Bucknell over the summer and I just loved it. It is a great academic school which was very important to me. The coaching staff is great, the players were all awesome and once I got offered it did not take me long to make mind up.
PBR: Who is the top player you have faced? Top team?
Korchak: Matt Marsili is a great pitcher who is already committed to James Madison as a junior, he is very tough to hit. Best team would be Oneonta they are well coached and definitely a scrappy group to play against.
PBR: Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself others might not know?
Korchak: I love to dance!
Buzz on Korchak: By Dan Cevette New York Scouting Director (11 year Pro, 3rd draft pick 2002)
Korchak has good size at 6-foot-2 and will definitely add some weight at Bucknell. His fastball sits 83-85 with an 86 once in a while. I loved his slider which stays under the RHH hands. Interesting prospect come his Junior year if he continues to grow and develop as a pitcher.
