Q and A with Bellarmine Commit, Zach Williams (Moeller)
April 22, 2012
PBR: Why did you choose Bellarmine?
Williams: I chose Bellarmine because of the strong academics and the ability to come in right away and contribute to the team.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Williams: My final two schools were Bellarmine University and Ashland University.
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Williams: Coach Tormoehlen first saw me at Bellarmine's camp over the winter. After the camp, we set up an official visit a couple weeks later and that is where I met Coach Tyner.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Williams: The coaches believe I can come in and compete on the mound as a freshman.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Bellarmine baseball?
Williams: My biggest strength as a baseball player is my knowledge of the game. The ability to know what to do in certain situations is key.
PBR: How does it feel to be a part of the Moeller baseball tradition?
Williams: To follow guys such as Barry Larkin and Ken Griffey Jr. is a huge honor but it also gives you something to work towards everyday.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?
Williams: As a team we want to win the GCL and a state championship. As for individuals goals I just want to go out there and pitch the best I possibly can for my team.
PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at Moeller?
Williams: As a Junior I was 0-1 in 13 innings with 4 saves and a 1.62 ERA. So far as a senior I am 5-0 in 28 innings with 37 strikeouts and a 1.00 ERA.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Williams: The toughest hitters I have faced would have to be Jake Madsen or Ty Amann.
