May 28, 2014
Prep Baseball Report Florida recently interview Lipscomb University commit and Bishop Verot standout Jeffrey Passantino.
PBR: Why did you select Lipscomb University and what do you plan to Study?
Passantino:I selected Lipscomb because of the close family atmosphere. It is important to me to surround myself around people who genuinely care about you which is how I felt while visiting the Campus. I plan on becoming a Commercial Pilot. I am majoring in Business in Corporate Management.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Passantino: They expect me to be an important part of the starting pitching rotation. Hopefully, with my abilities I will be able to become a regular starter on an already talented rotation.
PBR: What is the biggest Adjustment you feel you would have to make playing next year in the Atlantic Sun Conference?
Passantino: I know that playing Division I baseball is very competitive. I have to be smart on the mound and hit my spots. Getting ahead of hitters and commanding my pitches is going to be the key.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment?
Passantino: Winning a State championship, going to the Final 4 all 4 years of high school, and playing in the National High School Invitational in Cary, North Carolina are the most memorable moments in my baseball career.
PBR: What current or former teammate you look forward to playing most at Lipscomb?
Passantino: I am excited to be playing with the whole Lipscomb team. They have something special from the coaching staff, to the baseball offices, and obviously the players. I can’t wait to be a member of the Team.
PBR: When your baseball career is over, how do you want to be remembered?
Passantino: I want to be remembered as a guy who got after the game with a bulldog attitude. I hate to lose more than I like to win, that’s something that drives me to throw each pitch to the best of my ability. I don’t let guys win the battle, and I want everyone to know that.
PBR: How has playing at a prestigious baseball program in your opinion will prepare you for your Freshmen Year at Lipscomb University?
Passantino: Playing at Bishop Verot not only taught me how to get after the game, it taught me how to get through life. The great competition we played while I was there and the great teammates I had around me all prepared me for what to expect when I am a freshman. I am ready and I can’t wait to do it.
