PROGRESS REPORT
RECENT IMPROVEMENTS: More physical now at 6-foot, 205lbs and moving cleanly down the rubber, Messina was highly impressive in his 'pen at Flood City Elite Scout Day. The State College Area Junior not only increased average FB velocity from 80 to 84, but improved spin rates on the FB/CB by over 200rpms respectively. This, coupled with the ability to throw behind the ball better (13 inches of run down to 9 inches last weekend) have allowed for better carry to the bottom of the zone, hinting at another possible leap in the not so distant future. Offensively, the powerful lefty stayed within himself, posting a T88 mph bat-exit velocity and 72 mph bat-speed at his peak. True two-way appeal and always attacks with confidence during gameplay.
