PROGRESS Report

Last Look NotesJune 15, 2021, PA State Games, The athletic right-hander spun two effective innings with college scouts on hand, running the FB up into the 85 mph range with loose arm-action. Held 83 consistently with arm-side run and natural pronation at release, mixing a good 72-74 mph CH combo out of the same slot. Was able to turn over a short 71-74 mph CB with developing shape. Attacked hitters early in the count and trusted his stuff to get outs. Room to continue improving both offspeed pitches.

Recent ImprovementsFebruary 16, 2022, East Coast Sandhogs Scout Day, Arriving with some strength at 6-foot-2, 195lbs, Renner looked the part with clean movements down the slope during a standout 'pen. Landed an 85-87 mph FB that was mostly 86-87 on this date, able to maintain feel for the bottom of the strike zone. A much improved 72-74 mph CB showed natural two-plane shape and created plenty of sweep across the zone (14 inches AVG). The CH was thrown harder at 78-80 mph with more fading action down/away from lefties. High ceiling and velocity keeps climbing, setting up a fun follow this high school season.
