A rainy Tuesday brings a busy slate of games. Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and allow most of these games to be played as there are some good matchups on tonight's slate.
No. 1 James Madison at McLean
First place in Liberty Conference 6 is on as top ranked Madison travels to McLean. Madison has not lost a game to an opponent from Virginia yet this spring. Both teams are coming off of wins on Friday, Madison defeating Langley 3-1 and McLean defeating Fairfax 4-2.
No. 2 Hanover at Highland Springs
Hanover has a busy week with big games looming at the end of the week that will test how deep the Hawks’ rotation is.
No. 3 Greenbrier Christian at Currituck (N.C.)
The Gators have won all five of their games since returning from their spring trip in dominant fashion as they travel to North Carolina looking to keep rolling.
Lakeland at No. 4 Grassfield
Undefeated Grassfield will host Lakeland in a matchup that favors the Grizzlies’ dominant pitching as the Cavaliers have struggled offensively so far this spring.
Millburn (NJ) at No. 6 Atlantic Shores Christian
Millburn is taking a spring swing through Norfolk with three games scheduled there this week. The Millers are 2-1 on the season with their loss coming to New Jersey powerhouse Seton Hall Prep. This should be a good test for the undefeated Seahawks.
No. 7 St. John’s College vs. St. Mary’s Ryken
The Cadets are coming off a big week that saw them move into first place in the WCAC. They will look to maintain their tie atop the standings as they take on fourth place Ryken.
Tabb at No. 10 Lafayette
Both teams were both idle during their spring breaks as Tabb will travel to Lafayette as they begin their stretch runs.
No. 12 C.D. Hylton at Freedom (Woodbridge)
Hylton will look to bounce back from Monday night’s extra inning loss to Paul VI and pick up a Cardinal District win over Freedom.
Bishop McNamara at No. 13 Paul VI Catholic
Paul VI picked up a big win on Monday night over Hylton to bounce back from a pair of conference losses last week. The Panthers sit in third place in the WCAC, one game behind St. John’s as they host McNamara tonight.
No. 16 Hickory at Indian River
Hickory looks to pick up a win against an Indian River squad that has been in a lot of tough games so far this year, but just hasn’t gotten over the hump to pick up a win. When the Hawks’ offense gets rolling, they are hard to stop, but Indian River has been good so far at holding opposing offenses under control.
South County at No. 17 Lake Braddock
Lake Braddock hosts South County in a Patriot Conference 7 matchup. South County enters the game coming off of a tough loss to Woodson, sitting 3-2 in Conference play. The Bruins enter the game 5-0 in conference play, with their lone loss on the season being to Paul VI in their opener.
No. 18 Nansemond Suffolk vs. Bishop Sullivan
The Saints enter the game riding a three-game winning streak as they look to pick up a Conference win over the Crusaders.
Dominion at No. 20 Loudoun Valley
Dominion is coming off of a tight loss Monday night to No. 19 Potomac Falls. Loudoun Valley fell to the Panthers last week and enters this game coming off of a win over Park View as the Vikings look to build momentum with three games on the slate this week.
Brentsville District at No. 23 Kettle Run
Kettle Run is riding a four-game win streak and has outscored its opponents 39-4 during that period. The Tigers are 8-3 on the season and have an offense that should make this an interesting game.
No. 24 West Springfield vs. Woodson
Woodson enters the game coming off of a pair of wins and sits 2-3 in Patriot Conference 7. West Springfield sits 4-1 in Conference 7, a game behind Lake Braddock as the Spartans look to keep pace with a matchup against the Bruins looming Friday. The Spartan bats were hot last week, hanging double digit runs in both of their wins.
No. 25 George C. Marshall vs Lee
Marshall enters the game coming off of a big win over defending 5A State Champion Stone Bridge. The Statesmen are undefeated in Conference play and enter the game on a five game winning streak.
No. 25 Bishop O’Connell vs. Bishop Ireton
O’Connell followed up a big week with an offensive explosion Monday as they pounded DeMatha 12-2. With the win, the Knights moved into a tie for first place in the WCAC with St. John’s. O’Connell looks to continue its winning ways as they take on an Ireton squad that has yet to win a WCAC game.
