Preseason WNY: Top Performers

Tim Hunter
VP of Operations

The 2020 Preseason All-State - Western NY event took place on Monday Feb 17th at total Sports Experience (Gates). Here's a look at a few players that caught our eye with their performances, along with top statistical leaders from the event.

Will Markott 3B / OF / Kenmore East, NY / 2021

A very athletic 6-foot-3, 200 pound frame showed some impressive pop with his bat and some speed. Coming in tied for 1st with the Exit Velo at 96mph he put some good barrel on the ball during BP rounds. Will has exceptional bat whip through the zone and the ball really jumps off his bat. He showed off his wheels running a 6.97 60yd dash. Great start staying low out of the gate and running hard.

Gavyn Boyle OF / 1B / Royalton-Hartland, NY / 2022

Coming in with the Top 60yd Dash with a 6.77 this 6-foot-2 runner used every bit of his stride to notch a top time. Gavyn is a good runner being very relaxed and light on his toes. Not only did he impress with his feet but his arm in the OF showed off too, throwing 82mph and being one of the top velocities. His ball showed some backspin carrying action throwing low line drives to his target.

Christian Cabrera OF / 2B / Canisius, NY / 2021

Christian put up some good numbers at this WNY Event in Rochester coming in the Top 3 in two different categories. His ability to incorporate his lower half into his swing is one of the reasons why he was able to his 93mph on his Exit Velo. Big leg kick with quick hands helped him launch the baseball. A smooth arm action with a big crow hop delivered a good OF Velo for Christian, coming in 2nd with his 82mph.

Edward Hall RHP / 1B / McQuaid Jesuit, NY / 2022

Edward's good whip of an arm action really creates a good, hard line drive throw. He comes in one of the top spots for INF Velo with 83mph, he's able to reach back and let it loose across the diamond. He continues that same good arm whip jumping on the mound and even there he was able to be tied for our Top FB Velo at 85mph. Does a great job pounding the zone with his FB and has good feel for his secondary pitches.

Evan Yandricha C / 3B / Iroquois , NY / 2021

Impressive show out from this catcher here at the WNY Event, he was a top in both of the catcher pop time (1.99-2.04) and velocity (77mph). Super flexible and low in is primary set up with a good firm wrist sticking the ball. Exceptional footwork gathering himself towards his target and a quick transfer to make a good, accurate throw to the bag.

Joshua Milleville RHP / SS / Starpoint , NY / 2021

Joshua hit the top spot in 2 different categories, Max FB Velo (85mph) and Exit Velo (96mph). Very loose swing and a good use of his lower half is what helps Josh take the top spot for Exit Velo. Repeatable delivery with good downhill action constantly filling up the zone with his FB. He's able to throw all four of his pitches for strikes and good ASR with his CH.
