SEASON PREVIEW
Ft. Bend Kempner returns a senior heavy veteran club that won 22 games last year. Headlining the team is the No. 1 Ranked player in Texas, 2018 RHP/3B Simeon Woods-Richardson. A Texas commit, Woods-Richardson had a strong showing last summer at the Area Code Games, where his fastball topped out at 95 mph. At 6-foot-3, 210-pounds, he is a high end athlete that will hit in the middle of the order. Not to mention being ranked No. 28 in the PBR Draft 100, Woods-Richardson could be a high pick in the MLB Draft this June. The Cougars have more talent in 2018 SS Alec Carr, another Texas commit. Add in 2018 LHP Noah Huerta, a Texas Tech commit, and the Cougars will have a solid rotation once they get to district. With eight seniors returning to the lineup, Kempner should be able to score runs and defend on the infield. If they can find the right pieces in the bullpen to go with an already solid rotation, the Cougars should have a terrific season.
