Preseason Classic: Westminster Christian v East Ridge - MVP Joel Pineiro

The night cap of Day 3 featured East Ridge vs Westminster Christian. The pitching matchup was between FSU commit Najer Victor against USF commit Albert Hernandez, and both guys came out throwing hard. Victor was up to 93 and Hernandez was up to 91. It was a close battle the whole way until the bottom of the 6th when Wake Forest commit Lucas Costello drove in the go ahead run on a sacrifice fly.
The MVP of the game goes to junior RHP Joel Pineiro, who was lights out in relief. He struck out 7 in 4 innings of work including the last two batters of the game to earn the win. Westminster would defeat East Ridge 2-1.

Pineiro would allow North Broward to break the tie in the fourth, allowing a run on a Kobe Benson single. Pineiro would settle down though and cruise the remainder of the game. With a lon, lean projectable frame, he worked mostly 81-84 mph with downhill action and struck out six in his four innings of work.
