Preseason Classic: Spruce Creek v Miami Christian - MVP Corey Robinson

Doug Freeman
Florida Executive Director

The 2020 PBR-Florida Preseason Classic kicked off in grand fashion at Vero Beach High School yesterday. In front of over 150 scouts, Alejandro Rodriguez and Miami Christian took on Zac Veen and Spruce Creek. While Rosario would run his fastball up to 97 mph, Spruce Creek jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back. Led by Brandon Neely on the mound, who would work 90-93 mph and struck out five in four innings, would help lead Spruce Creek to the 10-0 win.

While Veen, Rosario, Neely and more were all impressive, the MVP from Game 1 is 2021 Florida commit Corey Robinson. Robinson would leadoff the game against Rosario with a single and Miami Christian would fail to retire him in three at-bats. Robinson would finish 3-3 with a pair of singles, a home run and an RBI with two runs scored.

From the outfield, he shows natural actions and takes efficient routes to the ball, cutting off the gaps. Robinson will continue to be one of the higher follows for his class, especially as he strengthens his frame.
