The Preseason All-State will split into two days this year after a banner event in 2018 saw over 100 players descend on Virginia Sports Complex in Ruther Glen, Virginia to be seen by the PBR VA/DC staff. In the coming weeks, we will spotlight players that we are excited to see again at our biggest pre-season event.

Scouting Report

Mid-Atlantic Challenge 11/4/2018

Projectable lanky frame at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds. Controlled side step delivery with some tempo. High leg kick into lower half with some hip load before working downhill. Longer, clean arm action throwing from a high three quarter slot. NIce lower half involvement and some backside drive. Repeats delivery well. Fastball showed slight run to the pitch up to 84 mph. Breaking ball is a good pitch with later break and tight action. 11/5 shpe on the pitch with short late break and swing and miss potential. Near fastball arm speed on the pitch up to 72 mph. Change up shows later fade on the pitch with near fastball arm speed up to 76 mph. More in this tank as he adds to his frame and could develop into a nice arm.

Unsigned Senior Games 8/7/18

Canary is 6-3 with a lanky frame that has a lot projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back, hips rotate completely. Short to ball, uphill swing path with extension through the ball, exit velocity was 70. At third, fields with a wider base and above average hands, rounds ball and works through it, feet work. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 82. Showed versatility taking balls in the outfield, velocity there was 83. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot with short loose arm action that is quick with normal effort. Shoulders closed and uphill, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 80-83, touching 84 with downward plane hard late run. Curveball was 72-74 with sharp late 11/5 break and good armspeed. Change-up was 76-77 with good armspeed and heavy run to it. Has feel for all three pitches and a lot of upside to add velocity as he fills out.
