Scouting Report

08/26/17 - Becker is a big right-handed pitcher at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds and has continued to fill out into his great pitcher's frame. His delivery has some funk to it with a very long arm action. The fastball was 80-82 with arm side run, he threw a 72 mph curveball for strikes with 11-5 shape. His changeup was 73 with some depth. Overall Becker mixed his pitches well, his stuff has been a bit better in the past, but has always shown above average pitchability.

05/20/17- The 6-foot-4, 195-pound right handed picher has put on a solid ten pounds since January. He throws from a funky 3/4 slot that creates a lot of deception and does not look enjoyable to face, especially against right handers. The ball comes out of his hand well and appeared to get on top of hitters quickly. He has a long, loose frame and despite some effort still has a lot of room to project. He also features a slider at 73-74 mph with sharp, late action at times. He attacked the zone and has a chance to make a big jump with a lot of deception.

01/21/17- The 6-foot-4, 195 pound right handed pitcher has a tall, lean, strong and projectable frame. From a long low ¾ slot, he tends to land slightly closed creating a crossfire delivery. Has rhythm in delivery with long whippy arm action. Fastball both sunk and cut, but has late action with extension at 85-86 mph. Showed an above average, sharp two-plane slider at 75-77 with the potential to be a plus out pitch. Overall he shows a lot of upside and strength. As he continues to clean up the delivery and improve on consistent extension and release point the velocity should make a jump and can improve on an already above average hard slider.

11/12/16- 6-foot-4, 195-pound RHP with a high waist and large feet that appear to take up the entire rubber. Looks like he could easily gain muscle and fill out his lanky frame. Long arm circle in the back, throws from a ¾ slot. A little rotational with the upper half, but in sync with the lower half. Delivery creates some deception with a high leg kick, moving body parts and a quick arm. Fastball sits in the 87-88 mph range while the changeup was clocked at 79-80 mph, both pitches coming out of the same window with good armspeed. Slider was 75-77 mph and had smaller, but late downward break.

6/22/16 - 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF with a lanky, wiry frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with an open landing and upright finish. Choppy rhythm, currently lacks body control on the mound. Fastball sat 81-84 mph. Slider has short breaking action at 70-72 mph with no command. Changeup was erratic at 69-73 mph with sinking action. In the outfield has a long arm action form a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws at 80 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with average hands. At the plate hits from a tall open stance with a leg kick stride and average balance. Pull hitter with a short swing path and looseness in the hands. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.36.

10/24/15 - 6-foot-4, 175-pound, right-handed hitting OF/RHP with a lanky frame. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm action. Showed off raw arm strength throwing 84 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a deep load to the backside. Long, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.48. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with an upright finish. Fastball sat 80-82 topping out at 83 mph. Slider showed short breaking action at 74-76 mph. Changeup sat 71-74 mph.
