The annual Invite Only Preseason All-State Showcase for the top 2021 prospects is coming up Saturday February 29th at Roundtripper Sports Academy in Westfield, IN. Leading up to the event we will highlight some of the top prospects to be in attendance.

Scouting Report

10/13/19: 6-foot-2, 175-pound lean frame;. On the mound, he shows above average arm speed to the plate with a high ¾ arm angle. Balance point is an athletic during delivery. His fastball was 82-84 mph. He threw his changeup (77-79 mph) for a strike when he stayed on top. He has sharp action and low in the zone accuracy on curveball (64-65).

2/23/2019: Calvin Shepherd, RHP/OF, Lawrence North HS, 2021, 6 foot 1, 172 pounds, throws with a shorter arm action and ¾ slot. Does a good job hiding the ball with a tall front side, and ball should get on hitters with that short arm action. Fastball sat 80-84 with more in the tank, CB was 11/5 shape and sat 62-65, CH was straight as sat 74-76. Didn’t show a lot of command with his stuff on this day, but there is more mph in that arm and projectable frame. Offensively, Calvin ran 7.52 and had an exit velo of 82 mph. He shows athleticism in the box with bat speed and balance. Swing works downhill and creates line approach.

2/25/18: 60 Time: 7.52  Position Velocity: OF-78, Exit Velocity: 79

Young and athletic movements, raw frame, short simple approach at the plate. Small hand push to load, no stride, simple lift on to the front toe to swing. Partial lower half, average bat speed produced with limited movements and load. Much more in the lower half and swing. Consistent middle of the field barrels. Short, over the top arm action from the outfield, choppy footwork through the baseball. Exchange is clean with average arm strength, delivered baseball with accuracy.

Pitching: Raw frame and delivery on the mound, short arm circle out of the glove, high ¾ arm slot down the mound. Front foot lands slightly closed, delivery works through the front side and spins to finish. Regular effort down the mound, more tempo and lower half drive to be developed. Fastball has young life, late arm side action at times, mostly straight at 79-81, topping at 82. 11/5 gradual break on the breaking ball, thrown for a strike at 62-65, more arm speed needed. Changeup was thrown with slown arm, flashed some late arm side sink, 72-75.
