10/28/18 - Simpson is a 5-foot-11 165-pound switch hitting catcher and shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.40 60 and a 4.71 home to first.  He had an 85 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance with rhythm in hands, similar set up from both side, controlled leg lift, accelerated loose hands during swing, level path with middle of the field approach.  Behind the plate, high three quarters arm slot, 74 mph positional velocity, pop times between 2.08 and 2.19-seconds, thin set up in base, lose arm action, sits low with flexibility, fluid footwork creating strong base and leverage, throws are mostly accurate with carry to the bag. On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, fluid footwork to the ball, clean exchange, gains ground to first base after catch, works though the ball, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Simpson is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Simpson throws with easy and repeatable mechanics, easy effort, loose high three quarters arm slot, slight running action, heavy, fastball at 76-78 mph, breaking ball shows 11-to-5 shape, lands for strike down in the zone, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 66-68 mph, smooth drop and drive delivery with level shoulders and in line direction.

11/4/17 - Simpson is an athletically built 5-foot-10 150-pound switch-hitting catcher and third baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.80 60, 4.69 home to first from the right side and a 4.49 from the left side.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity from both sides. At the plate, similar swing mechanics from both sides, strides slightly closed on left side, in line stride on right side, quiet hands with smooth lower half load, level path, hands generate bat whip, stays on ball after contact, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, 2.10 to 2.30-seconds, 74 mph positional velocity, wide set up in base, aggressive first step creating momentum, over the top release, fluid transfer on time with feet, accurate throws to the bag.  On the infield, 79 mph positonal velocity, aggressive the the ball, short over the top release, athletic, quick catch and throw, hands and feet in sync, mostly accurate throws with carry.

10/23/16 - Simpson is a 5-foot-7 140-pound right-handed switch hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.92 60 and a 4.75 home-to-first.  He has a 76 mph exit velo from the right side and a 73 mph exit velo from the left side. At the plate, open set up from both sides, simple load with no wasted movement, short to contact, level bat path, middle to pull approach from both sides, consistent line drives during batting practice, although a bit more connected from right side.  Behind the plate, singled to center from right side in game action.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.09 and 2.19-seconds, 70 mph positional velo, receives the ball well, fluid and athletic actions with loose arm action and momentum, fluid footwork and exchange, mostly accurate throws. On the infield, 70 mph positional velo, short over the top release, athletic footwork to the ball working through the catch, mostly accurate throws, improvements across the board in all a categories, projectable athlete long-term.

11/1/15 - Simpson is a 5-foot-5 115-pound switch-hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Simpson ran a 8.82 60 and 5.35 home-to-first from the right side and a 5.08 from the left side. Simple and repeatable mechanics from both sides, early stride, balanced finish, level path, gap-to-gap approach.  On the infield, 68 mph positional velo, high three-quarters release, arm works, fluid footwork creating momentum through catch.  Will mature physically and will help already athletic actions. On the mound, Threw mostly fastballs at 64-67 mph, change up at 61 mph, holds hand high throughout delivery, controlled body, throws with regular effort, clean arm action, stays in line down the mound, works ball around zone, throws strikes.
