Player Spotlight: Kirby Jenkins

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

We begin our summer spotlight series as we highlight an uncommitted prospect, which are primed to have a big summer. Today we look at 2019 INF Kirby Jenkins from Har-ber High School. Jenkins is a player with a large frame and advanced defensive actions, he has shown the ability to play all four infield positions. Offensively he has shown the ability to hit the ball to the opposite field with success. He plays for Sticks Baseball Academy in the summer.

Scouting Report

Jenkins is a 6-foot-2 175-pound infielder with a large frame and an athletic build. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork and solid glove actions. He uses a normal exchange and a short arm action throwing the baseball 80 mph accurately across the infield. Offensively he starts from a tall stance, uses a slight hand load and a leg kick. He attacks the baseball with a slight uphill swing. He stays balanced through contact and shows an advanced feel for his barrel. As he grows into his large frame power production should increase. Overall Jenkins is a polished baseball player, how physical he becomes will determine the level of baseball he plays after high school.
