Scouting Report

06.27.17
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 185-pound, strong, muscular frame. Segrist put together one of the better days at the Houston Area Code Tryouts on Tuesday, beginning with his 6.66-second 60-yard dash. The right-handed hitter was aggressive at the plate, barreling up three balls on the nose vs. elite arms. He smoked a line drive on a first pitch fastball at third base, then homered to deep left field, and in his third at bat he singled sharply to right-centerfield on a 92 mph fastball. Sigrist has added strength to an already athletic frame this summer and shows excellent bat speed with the ability to handle velocity, as well as stay on off-speed pitches. Sigrist, who played second base at Plano West this year, has a chance to move to shortstop next year. He profiles as an offensive infielder at the collegiate level and will be a nice addition to a recruiting class. He plays for Frozen Ropes during the summer and is a high academic student.
