Player Spotlight: 2018 OF Tyler Smith

Scouting Report

Smith stands 5-foot-10, 185-pounds, with a muscular frame and all around present strength. The uncommitted outfielder put together one of the better all around days at the Houston Top Prospect Games. He ran a 6.75-second 60 yard dash, registered an exit velocity of 91 mph off the tee and threw 83 mph from the outfield. Smith's batting practice was impressive, showcasing good power to the pull side and leaving the yard once. The right-handed hitter makes consistently hard, loud contact on the barrel. He has a simple setup with quiet rhythm and strength at contact. The rising senior projects as a corner outfielder and middle of the order type hitter with power at the collegiate level and will be a nice addition to a recruiting class. Smith is a high academic student and has an interest in military academies.
