Austin Boos is a versatile player from Cathedral High School. Boos can play multiple positions, but middle infield is his primary. PBR had a chance to talk with Boos about his decision to commit to play baseball at the Illinois Institute of Technology...
PBR: Why did you choose IIT?
Austin: I choose IIT because of its great academic reputation especially in the Engineering fields and I really liked Coach Born and the direction he is taking the baseball program at IIT.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Austin: Colorado School of Mines, Rose Hulman, Catholic University of America and Case Western Reserve University.
PBR: Where did IIT first see you compete?
Austin: I worked out for Coach Born during one of my visits to campus.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Austin: They expect me to contribute immediately at a middle infield position.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help IIT?
Austin: My biggest strength is my competitiveness and hard work. I will be able to use my competitiveness to push my future teamates to get better.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Austin: My high school coach Rich Andriole and old travel coach Emmit Carney.
PBR: What was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?
Austin: Playing the Houston Banditos last year in Georgia.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Indiana?
Austin: A.J. Reed
PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Austin: To be a leader for my team and win a state championship.
