The PBR Metro Classic is entering championship play starting today at 4:00. Each division has been very competitive with exciting baseball all three days of tournament. As we reach the half way point of the tournament, let’s review what has happened so far and the matchups over the next three days.

Russellville -2
Farmington-3
South

Pulaski Academy -2
Watson Chapel-3
East

Cabot-2
Lonoke-3
Today’s Matchup
Cabot vs Maumelle at 4:00 at Maumelle High School
Russellville vs CAC at 4:00 at Pulaski Academy (CAC will forfeit due to rescheduled conf game)
Watson Chapel vs Lonoke at 6:30 Maumelle High School
Searcy vs Pulaski Academy at 6:30 Pulaski Academy
All match ups should be intriguing.
2018 LHP Kaleb Hill will pitch at some point for Watson Chapel, it will be Hill’s first appearance of the year after basketball season ended yesterday.
2017 RHP Brett Brockington will pitch for Cabot today. Brockington is a projectable 6-foot-3 right-hander with solid stuff, he will be key if Cabot is going to be a considered a contender in the 7A Central.
2018 RHP Connor McCullough is expected to pitch out of the bullpen. McCullough has a fastball that works into the upper 80’s with an advanced feel for the breaking ball.
2017 CIF Adrian Hannah and 2018 C Andrew Stanley will try to keep the Searcy bats hot today as they have scored 7 runs in each of their first two contest.
2017 MIF Casey Martin is a special player, it will be interesting to watch him vs Kaleb Hill, it is always interesting to see one of the better hitters in state vs one of the top pitchers in the state.
It will be my fist time to see Maumelle, in 2017, an interesting group with a lot of talent, it will be good to see them, and if they can compete at a high level on a consistent basis. They picked up a big outing on the mound early in the week by 2017 RHP Shelby Quiggins threw 5 no hit innings to defeat Russellville 1-0 in a weathered shortened contest.
Pulaski Academy has been offensive using their athleticism to create, it will be interesting to see if this causes havoc with a fairly young Searcy team.
