PBR Junior Future Games Trials Tournament : Day 1 Recap

Day one of the PBR Junior Futures Game Trials is in the books. There were two games, as the SBA Rebels split the day, putting them in position to move on into bracket play Saturday afternoon. Before that is determined the SBA Majors will have to square off vs Arkansas Prospects at 9:00 AM. Below you will find a breakdown of Friday’s action and the schedule for Saturday.
SBA Majors 8 vs SBA Rebels 2
SBA Majors jumped out to an early lead and coasted to victory. They scored 4 in the first, 2 in the second and 2 in the third.
Offensively INF/RHP Colten Sims paced them out of the lead of spot with a 2 for 3 day a double and 2 runs scored. INF/RHP Cole Kitchens, Peyton Nelson, and Wade Farish all chipped in with hits to reach the total of 5 for the Majors. Nelson showed the ability to drive the ball to the opposite with a triple. Overall the Majors impressed with their ability to grind out at bats walking 7 times compared to their 2 strike outs.
The Rebels were limited to just 3 hits for the game and drew 4 walks. INF Corbin Singleton, INF/RHP Dre Bingham and INF/RHP Blake Carter were the productive members of the line up. Singleton and Bingham both had doubles. Another productive offensive player was Seth Strikebein who drove a run in the 5th innings.
Both teams pitched by committee. The Majors used INF/RHP Cole Kitchens, OF/RHP Junior Perry and C/RHP Alan Farrish. Kitchens pitched two innings allowing 2 hits 0 earned runs while striking out 3 and walking 1. Perry pitched 2 innings allowing no hits or runs with three strike outs. Farish pitched the final inning allowing 1 hit 1 run and struck out 1 hitter.
The Rebels pitched RHP/INF Sam Collier-Tennison who gave up 3 earned runs, on 3 hits, while striking out, and walking 4. He was relieved by LHP Seth Strackbein who worked 2 innings allowing just 1 earned run on two hits.

SBA Rebels 4 vs Arkansas Prospects 3
The Rebels defeated Arkansas Prospects 4 to 3 in a closely contested contest. Both teams took advantage of mistakes early to score three runs. The Rebels scratched out a run in the 4th and relied on its dominate pitching to close the game out.
The Rebels used three pitchers to take care of the Prospects. RHP Cameron Ruth started and three two innings relieved by Dre Bingham, as he was lifted for Blake Carter in the 5th.Dre Bingham was the most impressive of the group with late life on his fastball and a feel for his breaking ball.
The Prospects used two pitchers with RHP Gavin Blaylock started the game. He pitched 3 innings of competitive baseball, giving them a chance to win. He located his fastball consistently down in the strike zone with late run. He was relieved by Peyton Hill who worked out of jam with a big pick off play in the 5th.
